Strobe Tachometer

The Strobe Tachometer is a tool designed to detect and measure the rotation speed of objects such as fans, using the phenomenon of flicker frequency. By adjusting the frequency of the flickering light, you can accurately determine the speed of rotation. With the flicker frequency control buttons, you can easily assign a flicker frequency with a precision of 0.0001 Hz (0.01 RPM). The Strobe Tachometer offers a range of up to 1000 Hz (60,000 RPM) when connected to a flashlight and up to 100 Hz (6000 RPM) when used with the iPhone flashlight. If the speed exceeds the upper limit, you can still determine the speed by making measurements with a lower flicker frequency and performing a simple calculation (as explained in the appendix). The frequency can be displayed in either Hz or RPM, and adjusting the flash rate is as simple as pressing and holding the button.

Laser Tachometer

The Laser Tachometer provides precise measurements within a range of 0.3 Hz (18 RPM) to 1000 Hz (60,000 RPM). With a step size of 0.01-0.0001 Hz (1-0.01 RPM) and an update time of 1 second, it offers accurate and efficient speed measurement. The Laser Tachometer requires 5 mW laser power.

Magnetic Tachometer

The Magnetic Tachometer operates by measuring the magnetic field generated by a spinning magnet using the iPhone's magnetometer. It is particularly suited for measuring low rotation speeds starting from 6 revolutions per minute, although it can handle medium rotation speeds up to 2,700 RPM. However, at higher speeds, there is a risk of spontaneous magnet detachment and strong vibrations due to center-of-gravity shifts. The Magnetic Tachometer offers a measurement range from 0.1 Hz (6 RPM) to 45 Hz (2,700 RPM), with a step size of 0.2-2% and an update time of 2-5 seconds.
